Some people rag on the idea of coming home for a weekend if you live away at school. However some of the benefits of coming home can beat a night out at school any day.

1. Seeing your pets.

You could always use a little snuggle time with the pups.

2. Showering without shoes.

Self explanatory.

3. Showering in your own bathroom in general.

Best. Feeling. Ever.

4. Spending time with family.

As much as they can annoy you from time to time, you miss them.

5. Getting that much-needed grocery shopping done.

Snacks on snacks.

6. Sleeping in your own bed.

If you're lucky, it's bigger than a twin and you can finally sprawl out like you normally do.

7. Seeing some hometown friends that you don't always get to see.

College gets so busy that sometimes it's hard for anyone to stay in touch. Being able to catch up is always a good feeling.

8. Getting a much-needed mental break from all things school.

Getting to live on campus is 100 percent a luxury, but oftentimes it makes it harder to catch a break from all things school. Going home can be the little mental break that you need.

With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
