In college, pulling an all-nighter seems like nothing. Our bodies are so used to lack of sleep just to pass a single class. But, how do we do it? Coffee. That word seems to be every college students favorite word, aside from class is cancelled.
Coffee seems like the best choice of caffeine for an early morning after you got only 2 hours of sleep. There is more caffeine in coffee compared to other drinks, soda and tea. Caffeine is one of the most favored, as well as, the main ingredient in coffee. Why else would most of us drink coffee?
People go back fourth constantly, is coffee healthy for you, or not? Well it happens to be a mixture. Of course black coffee will be healthier than all those added in flavors, creamers, and sugars. You might be thinking, “How am I supposed to turn down a Pumpkin Spice Latte?” Well, as they are not utterly horrible for you, they also are not the greatest. A little restraint here and there can make a difference.
However, our favored Pumpkin Spice Latte is not the limelight here. Coffee in general comprises of many antioxidants and a high nutrient intake. While some may drink one cup, the more cups the more nutrients.
While high in antioxidants and nutrients is a plus, research has also shown to decrease chances of developing numerous brain diseases. It does not stop at brain diseases, either! Type 2 Diabetes is also reduced, but this is also hinting at black coffee. Coffee with sugars completely refutes this statement. Decaffeinated coffee still has benefits, but most of advantages listed above come from coffee that is caffeinated.
Coffee may seem great, and you now might feel less guilty about the five cups you had last night while studying Chemistry. Unfortunately, if there is good news, there might be bad news. Caffeine is considered a drug. Many of us do not like to hear that. Since it is so addictive, many coffee drinkers begin to rely on having a cup a day; Which turns into five or more. Just like any other drug, building up a tolerance to coffee is undoubtedly possible. There have been cases where people have had withdrawal symptoms to not having their coffee.
Many people worship coffee. It gives us the ‘strength’ to get through the day. Though there are positives and consequences to coffee, is it not like that with most food and drinks we consume? Many of us will never stop drinking coffee, which I am included in that, and that is perfectly fine. It has advantages, and with the knowledge of the coffee being consumed, it is easier to cut back on the extra cup. Caffeine sensitive people need to pay closer attention to the effects of coffee, but overall, with self control, coffee is not as bad as people make it out to be.
Coffee may not be for everyone, but it certainly gets the job done.
