Effects Of Being Involved

Throughout high school (and for some, even in college), sports, and other activities, such as drama or the band, have huge influences on the behavior and characteristics of their players. Being involved expands communication skills, develops time management skills, creates passion, and ensures friendships and memories that last a lifetime. In the future, these experiences can make them better, more well-rounded people who have certain skill sets that are valuable to everyday life.

Sports, for instance, introduce teamwork. Without teamwork, you can’t succeed. It’s a valuable skill not only for excelling in that particular sport or activity, but also for succeeding in life. You have to learn to get along with different people and different skill sets so that you can get a beneficial outcome.

While working at your activity and meeting new people, you can make the best of friends, and life-long memories that you would never have expected to make. You can experience new things with great people, but without being involved, you wouldn’t have the opportunity.

Being on any sort of team also causes a desire to do better and a love for that specific sport or activity. You practice and practice to perfect a role, whether it be on the court or on the stage. Learning to work hard and being humble when you don’t always win is one of the best things anyone can learn. It makes the reward that much sweeter when you actually earn it. People also develop strong time management skills if they are involved in school activities.

They have to be able to find the time for school work and studying amidst the hours of practice and days of the events. In order to continue doing the thing they love, they must keep their grades up. I believe that this pushes people to try harder when it comes to academics, which is very beneficial in the long run.

Sports and any other school activity have lasting impressions on teenagers in high school and in college. Of course, these things are usually done for fun but a lot of people underestimate the effect they really have. Having the ability to work with people completely different from you can get you a long way in life, and the use of time management is always a valuable skill.

The yearning to do better for the sport, play, or instrument causes a deep passion, in my belief. It causes people to work harder to achieve their goal. There are many instances of this, but I think that sports are one of the prime examples.

Overall, being involved in school is better for anyone’s well-being and future.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
