EFCB: The Acronym Every Traveler Should Know

EFCB: The Acronym Every Traveler Should Know

I've found that oftentimes people have an positively idealistic perspective of where and when they will conduct their travel experience. This is a common factor between people who plan both local, national and international vacations or adventures.

I've also found that usually, when it comes to trips, most people prefer to plan their own than rely on a travel agency. More often than not, this type of thinking tends to belong to people who are in their early to late twenties.

I, as a person in their young twenties, do understand this urge. It's the beginning of adulthood where we are testing the reigns and exploring exactly what we can do without the constant supervision and strictures of our parents. However, relying on our limited knowledge and experience limits us to the options and opportunities that can become available to us as travelers.

I have completed many traveling ventures in my time both solo and in groups, national and international. Each journey has its very own trials and tribulations to consider while planning, but what I've come to learn is that sometimes it is better to go through those unplanned adventures in a structured environment than to flounder through them on your own knowledge.

For those who are still questioning whether group travel is the best choice for them, well, allow me to shed some light on the subject.

Now that we have the proportionately neutral section of the article finished, I have to admit that I am a huge fan of group travel for multiple reasons. Two of my past international trips have been scheduled through this touring company and they have still remained some of my best traveling experiences that I have had thus far.

The company that I am referring to in this instance is EFCB, or Education First: College Break. The EF travel company has many branches, directed towards both high school and college aged students. Whoever said that knowledge was power has once again been validated in this circumstance because after learning about the many trips and amazing opportunities provided by EFCB, I felt like royalty.

First things first, flight and hotel costs are included, which is already a bonus because those are two of the most expensive and stressful parts of travel, and they've already been figured out on your behalf. Score!

Also, there are so many amazing excursions and opportunities. Many of the tours included are of historical sites and monuments that are huge tourist attractions anyway, and they are included in the cost of the trip.

Unlike many other travel agencies I have either experienced, or read reviews about, the focus is not only on the planned excursions. EFCB allows for its participants to have ample time to explore the city that they are staying in, go off on their own adventures and truly experience the culture they are immersed in.

Finally, this is one of the only tour companies where I have found that I have been able to meet and become friends with people across the nation, who I still remain close to and plan trips with even months after our own experience together.

The bottom line is, yes. EF is just one of many available touring options for people. While I happen to believe that it is the best company out there, I may also be a little bit biased.

I guess that the only solution is for you to try it yourself.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
