What is education, and why is it so important? Everyone would agree that education is a basic necessity of life. It means to learn something new. It's meaning is to mentally, physically and emotionally benefit the person by putting them in a better place than they were previously in before. From the beginning of times, people have relied and survived on past educators. There are many people that contribute to an individual’s education. Starting off as a young child, most of the information retrieved comes from home, parents and loved ones. As they move into being older, learning is obtained from multiple people including teachers, friends and even through their surroundings. An ideal education gives knowledge while incorporating valuable information that can be used to help in everyday life.
“Education is the process of acquiring knowledge.” True education comes in many different forms. Granted, it is important to study the basic academic courses including reading, writing, science and social studies, which all will help set a strong foundation for the student. Education should build not only on the text that lies within a book, but should also touch base with everyday life.
Nutrient plays a key role in education. For someone to be alert, and attentive in class, it is crucial for them to get a healthy meal to retain the information. They need to assure that every student gets a well-balanced breakfast in the morning and a wholesome lunch in the afternoon, like apples, bananas, vitamins, protein bars, etc. Food gives us that boost in our immune system to wake up us and to be alert.
Education can affect our lives. If a person’s education/literacy skills are poor, they are limited to the types of job they can apply for, due to an inability to read or write well, if at all. This lowers their income, social status, economic wealth and health care choices. Some people have poor literacy skills. It can be due to their families’ low income, poor health, family breakdown, drug and alcohol abuse, a learning disability and in some cases unwillingness to learn.
Others have education/literacy skills. That means a person has better choices of employment, better income, better social status, better health care choices and economic wealth.
Yes, education may seem boring at a young age, but it’s one of the main top priorities if you want to succeed in life. Education gives you the knowledge that you need for reading, understanding questions, buying a new car or paying your bills. Education teaches us how to learn. We learn by analyzing things, looking up information or learning new skills. Education teaches us discipline. It shows us how to discipline ourselves by not spending every dime we have in our pockets and being broke. Last but not least, education gives us the self-esteem to stick it out and graduate. When you graduate either high school or college, you will be very satisfied with yourself and realize what you have accomplished.
So next time you’re in class, or at home, or wherever you are dreaming about how much money you would make, living in a fancy home, or having fancy cars, always remember that it all depends on your actions, enthusiasm and determination through education. Whether you think it or not, it can affect your life; it’s up to you if you want it to affect you in a positive way.
