It’s 1 a.m.; you’re working on the concluding paragraph of your mind numbing Philosophy paper, and suddenly hunger strikes. You’re so hungry you can’t focus on wrapping up your argument about Aristotle so you reach for whatever is most convenient — but wait. You had a salad for lunch and you’re committed to trying to eat healthy in college. You don’t want to ruin your streak of healthy eating now, so here are some tips on healthy late night snack options that will give you the energy to power through that essay and be able to sleep easy after.

1. Bananas

Healthy and guilt free, these will give you the energy you need to stay up a little longer. Other fruits like apples or grapes are also healthy choices!

2. Cereal and milk

As long as it's not loaded with sugar, this is a great option to have late at night, plus, it can be super satisfying.

3. Popcorn

Every college student already knows this one. Popcorn is the perfect pick-me-up at night. It's easy to make and light enough that you won't feel too full to fall asleep.

4. Yogurt

With or without fruit, this is a great option. Add some almonds to it for a good crunch!

5. Graham Crackers

They taste like you're having dessert, but it's not enough sugar to keep you up all night, so have something else with it if you think you'll be up for awhile.

6. Pretzels

Perfect for fulfilling your salt craving without adding a lot to your calorie intake.

7. Rice cakes

Add some peanut butter on these so they actually have some flavor!

8. Pita chips and hummus

Keep this in your fridge for anytime of the day, but it's definitely a good midnight snack.

9. Fig Newtons

In case you're looking for something sweet that reminds you of dessert.

10. Cucumbers

Add a little salt if you're looking for more flavor!

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
