As the semester comes to an end, some students will become graduates. If you're in Springfield, I hope you've experienced a little bit of what the food culture has to offer. There are some good eateries in town and before you go, make sure you check these off your bucket list.

1. Pineapple Whip (Dessert)

It's fruit, so it must be healthy right? This light summer treat is a MUST if you have a sweet tooth. Three locations with alternating featured flavors.

2. Grad School (Burgers)

The top recommendation from the menu is "the full ride." The food is cheap and the location is small and worth it.

3. Wilson's Chuckwagon (BBQ)

Hickory smoked barbeque with an original smoky sauce. Looks yummy!

4. Mexican Villa (Mexican)

You can't drive far in town without passing a Mexican Villa. Dine-in Mexican = free chips and salsa!

5. Vasken's Deli (Mediterranean Deli)

Veggie options, hot or cold sandwiches and fresh salads.

6. Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes (Burgers)

With locations on both sides of town, this restaurant is popular for its alcoholic milkshakes. Just remember the fries don't come with the meal.

7. Kai After Dark (Asian Cuisine)

Located downtown and open late. Check them out on Wednesday after 9 p.m. for the college crowd menu.

8. Whole Hog Cafe (BBQ)

Award-winning meat. Barbeque nachos and their potato salad are big hits.

9. Purple Burrito (Mexican)

Cheap, California-style meals with a location close to campus. There are french fries in the burrito people!

10. Rama Thai Cafe (Thai)

The location feels like home because it really is a house. It's unique and serves authentic food.

It's easy to get caught in a food routine of Chick-fil-A and quick fast food. Don't miss out on the variety this town has to offer and the memories you can create trying new food.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
