Easy To Achieve New Year Resolutions

Some New Year's resolutions are hard to stick with, but these definitely aren't.

Easy To Achieve New Year Resolutions

New Year resolutions are hard. They’re usually hard to make, and then even harder to keep. Most people give up on their resolutions within the first few weeks after they make them, which in turn can make someone feel like they are a failure. Here are some suggestions for resolutions that can be very easily obtained to help boost your confidence and get rid of the post-holiday blues.

Brush your teeth twice a day.

Hopefully, you do this already, which is a great head start! Continue to do this for the rest of the year to kick your resolution’s butt! It might be a little weird to brag about, but this resolution will sure make you feel good when you stick with it.

Think about working out.

Actually, working out is overrated, and often times requires you to get out of bed. Why waste your time when you can just think about doing it? Just thinking about working out is probably more time you’ve put into anything related to being active since you started eating all of those holiday dinners, and that alone is enough progress for the new year.

Wear a clean shirt at least one day of the week.

It is not a secret that college kids hate doing laundry and pretty much all are even guilty of claiming that all shirts that do not smell bad are clean. Do yourself a favor and pull a shirt out of your drawer and not your hamper at least once a week. If you’re all out of actually clean shirts, it wouldn’t be ruled as a complete resolution failure as long as you spray the dirty one you wear with some air freshener.

Watch less TV.

This sounds like a really challenging resolution, but don’t worry, there’s a loophole. It’s called Netflix on your computer. Technically you aren’t watching TV, you’re on your laptop. The options are endless too, with Amazon Prime and Hulu added to the mix you’ll never run out of shows to watch! Just make sure it’s on your computer so you don’t spoil your resolution.

Be kind.

This is for the type of person who usually has an attitude, and wants to be nicer to people. Since being nice might edge towards the hard side of the resolution, here’s a pro tip -- just don’t talk to people. When you were younger you were probably taught “if you cannot say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all”, so why not use it now? Sure, you won’t be going out of your way to make someone feel good, but these are baby steps. That can be your resolution for 2017.

Eat more fruits and vegetables.

That’s right. You’re not going to be able to get out of being healthier. So add some green peppers to your XL midnight pizza and add a corn dog to your Cookout tray. The last time I checked corn was a vegetable, so a corn dog should suffice, right? Either way, at least you’re trying! Well, kind of.

Happy New Year!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
