Now that Christmas is over, it's time to move on to New Year's Eve, right? It's the time of year when everyone realizes they didn't stick to their resolutions for more than a week. How did "new year, new me" work out for you this past year?
Now, you'll be thinking about what your New Year's resolutions should be this year, and debating whether or not you should even make any. Because, let's be honest, too often they are cliche and over the top.
Nevertheless, there's nothing wrong with trying to make changes in the new year. The key is to not make them too out of reach. This year try to set reachable goals; focus on the little things.
In order to help you do this, here's a list of easy resolutions you could actually stick with in 2016!
1. Start your day with lemon water
Drinking a warm cup of lemon water in the morning (on an empty stomach) is proven to help your digestive track get ready for the day and gives a little wake-up call to your body.
2. Get outside more
This may seem hard during the cold winter, but it’s always a good idea to get outside every day. Take your dog to the park or go for a walk around the block.
3. Save energy
Try making sure you turn off all the lights when they don’t need to be on. Also, unplug appliances when you’re not using them; just having the plug in the outlet uses energy.
4. Take time for yourself
Sometimes it’s good to be selfish. Always make time for yourself; alone time is a good thing. It’s a good way to de-stress and maintain your inner peace.
5. Don’t worry if you don’t follow your resolutions
In the end, there’s really nothing binding you to any resolutions you make, so don’t beat yourself up if you can’t follow through. Just think of them as fun, new things to try out in 2016! And if February comes and you're eating ice cream when you said you weren't going to anymore, who cares? It's okay!
Happy New Year, everyone! Let's hope 2016 is a great time.
