Do you ever hear your alarm go off in the morning and you want to cringe because you can't stand the thought of having to pull back your covers and start your day? We've all been there, especially as college students. We end up hitting the snooze button a few times before we finally muster up enough energy to make our feet hit the floor. Usually I end up going through the motions of getting ready like I had just risen from the dead, instead of just waking up. I'm also not a huge caffeine drinker, so no morning coffee for me to help jump start my day. Seems impossible to get myself moving, right?
Actually, instead of drowning myself in coffee, I do a simple ten minute workout to get my blood pumping in the morning. It's not hard to do, and can't even really be classified as a workout, but I thought I'd share it for those who find it really hard to get themselves moving in the morning. I'm not promising that you'll get in shape or suddenly become a healthier you. No, instead you'll just be able to get your body worked up and be able to start your day off on a successful note.
Here is my easy, ten-fifteen minute ten step workout:
1. 10 squats
2. 25 jumping jacks
3. 25 calf raises
4. 10 squats
5. 10 sit-ups
6. 25 jumping jacks
7. 25 calf raises
8. 10 squats
9. 10 burpees
10. 10 sit-ups
So you'll do a total of 30 squats, 50 jumping jacks, 50 calf raises, 20 sit-ups, and 10 burpees. Not too hard at all. Like I said, it only takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, and it allows you to get your body moving in the morning. I always feel better when I workout (even a little), so this routine really helps me. You don't have to work too hard, but you're able to start your day on a positive note. Now you don't have to go through your morning routine like you're one of the risen dead.
