As the weather is slowly getting warmer it’s time to swap out your hearty warm bowl of oats fora lighter more refreshing breakfast option. Acai Bowls are basically a thick smoothie and they are absolutely delicious, refreshing, and very easy to make. The acai bowl phenomenon has boomed over the last few years. It’s hard not see them everywhere from Instagram to on the cover of lifestyle magazines.

While going out to eat for one of these delicious bowls is very much worth that Instagram worthy picture, it can also be expensive. The good news here is that these bowls are very easy to make yourself at home. One tip when making acai bowls is to not use as much almond milk as you would with a smoothie, because you want your bowl to have that amazing ice cream consistency. Then you top your bowl with anything from granola to coconut flakes. It’s really that simple!

Below I have a quick recipe for an easy and delicious acai bowl. They are perfect during the summertime to refresh as a delicious breakfast or a sweet snack.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 packet of froze acai berry(I recommend Sambazon brand)

1/2 Banana

1/4 Cup Almond Milk

Toppings:

Peanut-Butter

Toppings:

Granola (I recommend Purely Elizabeth/Love Crunch)
Cocoa Nibs

Coconut Flakes

Berries

Honey

Instructions:

1) Blend your acai berry packet, 1/2 banana, and 1/4 cup almond milk. Make sure that you have a ice cream consistency.

2) Transport your acai bowl into a bowl

3) Top your bowl with peanut-butter, granola, cocoa nibs, coconut flakes, berries, and honey, and whatever else you might want!

4) Enjoy! It’s that simple!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
