Halloween is fast approaching, and if you’re anything like me (i.e. indecisive, a chocoholic, a procrastinator, and pretty much broke AF) deciding on a costume that won’t break the bank and can be put together ASAP is practically a miracle! Last week I wrote about 20 things to do in Fall, and since we are currently in the middle of the 2016 Fall season (How is it already OCTOBER though?!), the weather has been cooling down and before we know it Halloween will have past and we’ll be planning our New Year's Resolutions… that we may or may not keep. Whether you’re going to Trick-or-Treat, a themed party, or whatever you do on Halloween, these 11 costume ideas are perfect!

1. Regina George

Cut two holes over the chest into a white tank top, and a colorful bra or cami underneath! Add in a black skirt and black shoes and your good to go! If you want to add a blonde wig go for it, this is such an easy costume to pull off.

2. COSTUME

Grab a t-shirt, black paint and a paint brush and your halfway done. Writing the word COSTUME onto a t-shirt is a simple idea for halloween and will probably get a good laugh from your friends! Print out stencils to make neater letters or free hand it, just remember to let the paint dry before wearing it!

3. A Nerd

It’s practically a classic Halloween look, “nerd” glasses and suspenders along with pens, pencils, and a calculator in the breast pocket of a button down shirt and your done!

4. A Black Cat

You can literally just draw whiskers on your face. Or if you have more time, add in a cat ear headband. Don’t forget to wear all black!

5. Error 404: Page

This costume goes along the line as the COSTUME one. Everybody knows “Error 404: File Not Found” page. Well Grab a T-shirt, marker or paint, and voila! A new costume is created! Substitute in “costume not found” for “file not found” and you are complete!

6. Basic Girl

Uggs, a Northface, and leggings. Bam you are done! Add in some Starbucks for a complete look.

7. Lazy Day

Wear your PJ’s, sweats or whatever you wear on lazy days, messed up hair and a blanket and popcorn or some type of snack and your “Lazy Day” costume is complete!

8. Tourist

Get a fanny pack laying around and a Hawaiian/Tropical shirt, add in sunglasses and a camera and you officially look like a Tourist.

9. When Life Gives You Lemons

Write or paint “Life” onto a t-shirt, preferably a white one so you can see the words clearly, and buy a lemon or a bag of lemons and pretend to hand them out. You can actually hand them out but since you bought them, you might as well keep them and use them for Lemonade or another dish!

10. Secret Service

Black sunglasses and dark clothing or a suit and you can be secret service!

11. Risky Business

A oversized white button down shirt with white socks and black sunglasses and you are Tom Cruise in Risky Business! ( wear shorts or boxers or spandex underneath!)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
