Easter is usually correlated with chocolate bunnies. plastic eggs filled with candy, Easter egg hunts, dying hard boiled eggs, and the Easter bunny coming to every little boys and girls home to give them a basket filled with goodies. However, that is not what Easter is about. Easter' s true and honest meaning is Christ's resurrection and His promise to us that He will return. So, here is what the Bible has to say about Easter and why it is important that we must share its message.
“The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name.” (Luke 24:46-47)
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)
“According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)
“We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.” (Romans 6:9)
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11)
As you can see, the Bible not only promises us once, but multiple times that Christ lives and will come back for us. It is important that we share this message because if we don't, then no one will and all hope is lost. As you reflect on this Easter Sunday, I hope you realize that's not about the goodies, but it's about the meaning behind it that makes it so special.
