An East Coast Review On The Northwest

What happens when a kid from New York visits the great Northwest including Washington, Alaska and Oregon? Well, for starters, this kid enjoys some extraordinary food, sees some amazing sights and finds himself just a tab bit nostalgic. Just like they say, "everyone is a critic." With that being said it's my turn to step into the spotlight, to be that critic and who better to criticize the Northwest than a 19 -year-old college student who has had his opinion of these places filled with thoughts and ideas from movies and books and so on.

Washington

Perhaps the most amazing part about this whole trip was the first stop, Seattle. As New York has Smorgasburg, Seattle counters with its very own and even greater Public Market. Throw in tasty treats, flying fish, amazing views and just about anything else you can think up and you have yourself Public Market. The food alone makes this destination worth while ranging from the likes of the original Starbucks to Pikes Place Chowder, a world renown chowder destination. Seattle simply has so much to offer and coming from a big city such as New York I definitely did not feel like a fish out of water. An overall great destination that I would highly recommend to any and all.

Alaska

The world has plenty of amazing views to offer, there is the view from atop a rooftop in New York City, Views from the 6 and then there are views from Alaska. Nothing quite compares to the sights and surrounding, wether you are overlooking some icy mountain ranges or having spotted a family of bears (hopefully from a distance) Alaska is simply unforgettable. Cold even for a New Yorker, Alaska is truly is one of a kind with its seemingly never ending sunlight and chill summers. Truly be prepared to rough it in Alaska as this is as far away from the New York scene as it gets.

Oregon

Known for the Goonies, but with so much more to offer, Oregon -- like Washington -- is a truly amazing place to visit. Whether it is a Voodoo donut or grabbing a book in Powell's there is simply always something to do. Perhaps one of the coolest food scenes around simply because of all the food trucks and food stands scattered throughout especially around, Portland is a must try.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
