Hello All,

It's that time of year again... you know... time to make New Year resolutions that you will NEVER keep. What if I told you there was something you could do on top of making the traditional resolutions.

Instead of just sharing your earthly resolutions with friends and family, and making them about physical matters, why not share with the Lord your goals on how to strengthen your relationship with Him, and how to better live for Him? These would be known as your heavenly resolutions.

On top of saying, "I'm going to go to the gym every day", or "I'm going start eating more vegetables", think about what is going to help you in the long run, during your eternal life in heaven.

All of these earthly resolutions are good, and you should probably have a couple, but try to make some heavenly resolutions you could make to yourself, and to the Lord. Here are some suggestions, "I will pray twice a day", "I'm going to start reading a daily devotional", "I'm going to start going to church." If you truly mean these things, and communicate them to the Lord, He will make sure that they happen, even if it isn't blatantly obvious at the time.

If you are afraid or you don't know how to start this overwhelming task, let me offer you some helpful books and tips on how to get started:

Here are some daily devotional books that can be found on Amazon, Google, and most bookstores

My Utmost for His Highest- Oswald Chambers

Jesus Is Calling - Sarah Young

Trusting God day by Day- Joyce Meyer

Walking with God Day by Day- Martyn Lloyd- Jones

and many more, there are specific devotionals for couples, men, women, teens etc. Just look, they are out there!

* I suggest journaling along with these daily devotions, even if its just a sentence or two. Writing about how His word has helped you throughout the year, is fun to look back on at the end of the year, to see how you've grown in faith, look at the blessings in your life, and help you see the obstacles that you overcame that year.

Here are some apps for your phone or tablet, that may help you with your heavenly resolutions:

Dailybread: Bible Verse & Devotional

iDisciple

Daily Bible Inspirations- verses and devotions

Ending Your Day Right Devotional

Let me end by telling you my heavenly New Year resolution:

For 2017, I resolve to read a daily devotion, both night and day, and to complete a Bible study at a local church.

I hope that I have inspired you all to not only make your earthly, but heavenly New Years resolutions as well!

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
