9 Struggles You Have Being An Early Bird In College

In This Article:

Most people have these preconceived ideas about people in college that all we do is party all night and sleep all day. For some people, that's true, but for people like me, not so much. I'm the crazy person you'll see going to get breakfast at 7:30 in the morning, sorry not sorry.

1. Sleepovers are the most awkward thing. Ever.

Trying to not be annoying but also wake your friend up so you don't have to be awake alone is the most awkward thing.

2. No matter how tired you are, you can't sleep in.

Giphy

But my brain is like nope, 7 AM, rise and shine.

3. You can't help but be ready for bed by 9 PM.

Giphy

I mean, going out sounds great and all, but why do we have to wait until 10 to go downtown? I'm already tired thinking about it.

4. You almost always wake up before your alarm.

Giphy

I have to be up by 8? Great, I'll wake up at 6:30.

5. You never get to eat breakfast with your friends.

Giphy

I ate breakfast at 7 AM but sure, I'll come sit with you while you eat pancakes at 12 PM.

6. 8 AM classes don't really seem all that bad.

Giphy

I mean honestly, I'd be up anyway.

7. You're ready for lunch by 10:30 AM.

Giphy

When you eat breakfast at 7 AM, it's lunchtime before noon.

8. If for some weird reason you sleep until 9 AM, you feel like you wasted the whole day.

Giphy

I may as well have slept until 5 PM because now I don't know what to do with myself.

9. You're literally the only one in a good mood in the mornings.

Giphy

While everyone else is dragging at 10 AM, you're ready to go because you've been up for 3 hours.

Being a morning person in college is just flat out weird, but some of us can't help it okay? I wish I was asleep until 11 AM, trust me.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
