The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) of 2018 took place from June 12th to June 14th. For those who do not know, E3 is a kind of comic-con showcase for upcoming video games. Here, differing gaming companies (Nintendo, Ubisoft, Activision, EA, et cetera) give fans a taste of their large game titles to soon be released. Dozens of games are announced. Games such as "Battlefield V," "Fallout 76," and "Kingdom Hearts 3" were announced this year at E3.
However, these are the top five games I am personally most excited for that came out of the Expo this year.
1. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Ubisoft
A recurring action/adventure title, Assassin's Creed dives into different points in history. Whether we play as an assassin during the Italian Renaissance, during the American Revolutionary war, during the 1600s playing as a pirate, or as an Egyptian, Assassins Creed has explored various time frames and historical events. This next installment explores ancient Greece during the times of the Spartans. That is awesome. "Odyssey" will have combat similar to the latest game, "Origins," which made the game a lot more enjoyable. "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" comes out on October 5th, 2018 on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and on PC.
2. Spider-Man
Sony Corporation
I never really played a Spider-Man game before, to be honest. But, this one looks so good. The Sinister 6 (a classic Spider-man villain group) is causing havoc in New York City. Obviously, Spider-Man needs to stop them. The graphics, combat, and story all look so good. This game has been shown before E3, but more information about the game was given at the Expo. One of the coolest aspects about this game is the free roam, where you can just swing around New York City and help with various petty crimes. "Spider-Man" comes out on September 7th, 2018 on the Playstation 4.
3. Halo Infinite
Microsoft
"Halo 3" was one of my favorite games to play on the Xbox 360 as a kid. Halo is a first-person shooter game where you are a futuristic warrior called a Spartan (not too far off from what the real Spartans were like) and you would have to basically save the galaxy from an alien race filled with zealots. I used to play "Halo 3" for hours and hours with my friends and online, but after "Halo 3," I stopped playing any of the other games to come out of the Halo franchise. Halo Infinite was teased at E3 though, and for some reason my excitement has surprised me. This did not really show any gameplay, but was more of a teaser to show what is coming and what is in early development. I can't wait to find out more information on it. "Halo Infinite" has no release date as of right now, and no confirmed platforms either (however, it will most definitely at least be available on the Xbox One).
4. Elder Scrolls VI
Bethesda Softworks
Oh baby. This was an awesome and unexpected reveal. Similar to "Halo Infinite," "Elder Scrolls VI" was only really a teaser. There was no game play shown, no story hints, not even the real title of the game. However, all Bethesda had to do was show in big letters "Elder Scrolls VI" to really hype this game up. The other popular games in the Elder Scrolls franchise, such as "Skyrim," has been extremely popular fantasy adventure games. Almost everyone should have at least HEARD of "Skyrim" and the next iteration of these games is sure to be a big hit. "Elder Scrolls VI" has no release date as of right now, and no confirmed platforms either.
5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Nintendo
I have been waiting for this. Super Smash Bros. has had quite a large cult following for many years now, mostly in "Super Smash Bros. Melee." Ever since I bought the Nintendo Switch, I have been waiting for the next Super Smash Bros. to be revealed and for me to have an awesome fighting game on-the-go. Well, here it is. Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game that takes famous characters from Nintendo games and puts them in a battle-arena style fighting game. It will have every character that has been previously included under the Smash Bros. title, including new ones such as Ridley from Metroid. I am super excited for this game to come out, and I am sure every other Smash Bros. fan is as well. "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" comes out on December 7th, 2018 on the Nintendo Switch.
