Dunkin' Donuts Vs. Starbucks

Who reigns supreme in a world full of coffee?

Let's face it, when it comes to coffee/energy boosting drinks, college students know best! Everyone knows about the ongoing feud between Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts for who reigns supreme as 'the world's best coffe!' As an avid drinker of both, I must say that there are pros and cons for each, and they are as follows:

Dunkin' Donuts:

Wow! Where do I begin with all of the amazing goodies that Dunkin' brings to the table?

First thing's first, the prices at Dunkin' are really not that bad! I can get a large caramel iced coffee with cream for under $3 (that is my order by the way...hint, hint). In usual circumstances the lower prices means the lower the quality, but at Dunkin' the quality is almost always on par with that satisfying taste I've come to love.

Although price is a great incentive towards siding with the DD side, the main reason why Dunkin' is great is the taste! Dunkin' may not have the gigantic selection of fancy drinks that Starbucks does, but what drinks it does have are expertly crafted to provide a great taste with quick service. There are constant additions to the never ending menu and each one is quite successful. I 'donut' know if this is obsessive or not, but I do follow Dunkin' Donuts on snapchat and they are always posting videos of them brainstorming brilliant new sandwich and drink ideas, and my mouth is constantly watering. I would have to say that on a price stand point, Dunkin' wins due to the gap in price between the two.

Starbucks:

The truth is the truth: Starbucks is a lot more expensive than Dunkin' Donuts, so why do we keep coming back to it? A venti iced latte is around five dollars, but the taste is so good it makes up for it. I will tell it how it is: if I did not have a meal plan that includes Starbucks, it would be a luxury rather than an everyday, multiple-times-a-day treat. However, for the purposes of comparison, let's focus mainly on the taste of the coffee and the millions of other items you can fill up your stomach with.

Starbucks always has the best flavor combinations, especially on the "secret" menu. I am rarely, if ever, disappointed with how my drink tastes. Not only does Starbucks deliver on the quality of the drink, but they have a wider variety of drink flavors than Dunkin'. I can get an iced passion tea one day and then the next get a strawberries n' cream frap. Alongside all of the drinks, Starbucks has a million different food items, like my favorite: spinach and feta stuffed pretzels! You can get sweets on top of sweets on top of sweets! One time my friend got a blondie bar and my dog ate it and I never understood why she got upset over it... I now know why, and I feel for all the people who drop food/drinks. In the end, Starbucks wins the battle of menu items just because of the sheer number of food options that are always on the menu. After everything has been taken into consideration, in my opinion, Dunkin' is the clear winner because of how cheap the coffee is compared to Starbucks. They both taste great no matter what, but when you are a broke college kid (who does not have a meal plan or Starbucks on campus), Dunkin is the way to go. However, after all is said and done, coffee is coffee and when you have to pull an all-night study session any kind will do!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
