This Tuesday, October 4th, at 9 p.m. vice presidential candidates Mike Pence and Tim Kaine will ramble on for 90 minutes at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Besides feeling very frustrated, there are a few things we can expect. CNN's Elaine Quijano will be the moderator for this debate, and she sets many firsts milestones for american history debate moderators. The debate will be in nine parts of ten minutes, or at least that's the goal. Here are four foreseeable exchanges to expect Tuesday night.
Tim Kaine will show us how progressive he is. Kaine is pretty much a republican when it comes to trade deals, but that's not going to fly here. He is going to make a similar pivot that Clinton did over the summer. Kaine was pro-free trade, pro-right to work, and pro-fracking until just recently. One thing we can definitely expect is that Kaine will make us think that he has always been consistent in these positions.
Mike Pence, along with Trump, might be indifferent to Climate Change, but earlier this week in an interview, Pence said he believes the rising temperatures are caused by humans. This, while being an abhorrently low standard, is in opposition to what Donald Trump has been saying all year. Mike Pence is supposed to clean up on the detail-policy talk that Trump lacks strength in.
Tim Kain will probably spout some Spanish here and there; Kaine is fluent in Spanish and has been using it in his speeches and rallies as often as Thor whips out his hammer. You can expect that after Pence tries to defend Trump's immigration policies, Kaine will say recite some Spanish sonnet and really lock in that voter demographic.
Mike Pence will remind us he is a christian, conservative, and a republican. Along with making up for Trump's lack of policy knowledge, Pence is also responsible for appealing to the more religious side of America. A large portion of America is looking for someone who loves the bible just as much as they do.
