There is a ton of makeup guru, Instagram channel, YouTube video, and Brand Sponsored advice floating around the internet. What is the cheapest powder that I can get that will set my face and not show oil without costing $30? Yes, there is powder that costs $30 (or much more), and people will buy it because of the brand name that is printed on it. That's not saying that all high end makeup isn't fabulous, because we KNOW that the Shape Tape Concealer is a pretty penny but could hide a bullet wound if it needed to. But there ARE dupes for things that you can buy to save money for that TRULY holy grail makeup that you've been drooling after for longer than you want to admit.
Here is a list of 20 drugstore or online makeup products that I've found to work like a charm, and they were cheap while doing it. I usually have oily skin, so that's what my recommendations will be targeting. I also will be pulling from Kathleenlights for example, and she has dry skin. Enjoy!
1. No7 Lift and Luminate Foundation
We'll start out with the face. No7 has a couple stand out foundations, but this one is great for a dewy look, that you can keep or set with powder. I have oily skin and it works well for me when I set it, and Kathleenlights has dry skin and it is one of her favorite foundations (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7zUL0eC5LY @14:56). This has sheer to medium coverage, but you can build it up! It has a light to dark skin tone color range and it's available at Walgreens, Target, Ulta, and some Walmarts (usually for around $12-16).@14:56).
2. Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation
This foundation is outstanding if you want a no shine look. This is the foundation for oily skin, but Maybelline also has a dewy and smooth line for sry skin as well. It can be worn with or without powder, although I always recommend setting it to keep it from moving around during the day. It has medium coverage, but it is buildable. The price is also EXTREMELY affordable at $8 a bottle and it has a great skin tone range! You can find this at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Publix, CVS, or Ulta, as well as online. Many places carry Maybelline!
3. RCMA No Color Powder
This powder is pretty well known among the youtube beauty community for being amazingly good at setting foundation. It is a bright white powder in an oregano bottle, but it gets the job done for all skin types and tones. RCMA has it priced at $12, but it's also available on Ulta and Sephora!
4. Wet n' Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder
This is my holy grail powder. It is one of the best powders that I have ever used, it is silky and smooth and doesn't settle into lines. It's not powdery (at least on my oily skin). It comes in a variety of colors that each cover a large spectrum. It has a lot of product so you don't burn through it fast. And it's $5. doesn't get much better. Can be found at any drugstore mentioned above, or Ulta!
5. Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camoflague Concealer
This concealer is just the right mix of heavy concealing with a lightweight formula. It sinks into the skin well and dries very matte, I often wear it without foundation. The only issue with it is their skin tone selection is deplorable, but its price tag is a nice $6. Can be found at Ulta or the Catrice website.
6. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
This concealer is very good for dark spots like bags or face marks, and it works well for normal to oily skin. It doesn't have much in the tube, but that's a small qualm for something that costs $6.49! It's available at all the same places as the foundation, and it has a very open range of skin tones!
7. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
To wrap up concealers, I thought I would include a concealer that is for dry skin. This foundation is extremely hydrating, and has sheer to medium coverage. The applicator can be a little annoying because you have to turn to get any liquid and the sponge can hold product, but the sponge does apply the concealer well. Not for oily skin, but it may be a godsend for dry to combination. Can be found at any drugstore or Ulta, at a comfy price of $8 (It has a lot of product in the applicator, well worth the money).
8. Kokie Professional Lengthening and Defining Mascara
One of the best mascaras I've ever used! I have stubs for eyelashes, and this mascara not only makes them longer, but it also manages to give me imaginary voluminous lashes that I don't have (because I have a bad habit of plucking those poor suckers out). One bad thing about this mascara is it dries out pretty quickly, but at $7.50 a bottle you will thank it. It's available at Walmart, Target, and the Kokie website.
9. Essence Forbidden Volume False Lash Mascara Top Coat
This is more of a honorable mention, but man is this a fantastic product. It isn't a mascara, and it shouldn't be used like it is! It is just a top coat, but it adds to the volume and length if you have a mascara that's a little dry or not performing like you want it to. Perfect combo with the Kokie. This Essence mascara is also only $1! But unfortunately it can only be found online at either Walmart, Amazon, or Essence.
10. Essence Satin Touch Blush (Satin Love)
This is a peachy, pinky mauve blush with a very slight sheen. It's extremely buttery and blends like a dream. This shade is more for fair to medium skin tones. Long lasting, very flattering color. And the price tag is agreeable as well, at only $3 on the Essence website, Ulta website, or Amazon.
11. e.l.f. Blush in Mellow Mauve
This is a pretty pink blush with a slight sheen, which gives a healthy glow. Blends well, for light to medium skin tones. It's available where e.l.f. is sold, as well as online for a pretty price of $3.
12. Colourpop Satin Lipstick
Any color. Any color will be good, whatever your preference. They have nudes, plums, reds, mauves, pinks, tans, browns, blues, all different kinds. The satin formula is amazing, it feels comfortable on the lips and has very little transfer. They're extremely pigmented and the colors are always gorgeous! And they're only $6.50 for a whole lotta lipstick!
13. Colourpop Dream St. Palette
This is a palette created by Kathleenlights, and the shades are beautifully chosen, harmonious with each other, and wonderfully pigmented and buttery. 12 shades of all sheens, and for only $16. Colourpop eyeshadow has Walmart prices with Too Faced or Urban Decay (better I think, I don't think much of Urban Decay eyeshadow) or Kat Von D quality.
14. Juvia's Place Masquerade Palette
This palette, as told by the website, was inspired by African festivities filled with joy and spiritual festivals. With a good mix of wearable warm shades and bright pops of colors, it's a palette anyone could enjoy. The creator also had both light skin tones and dark skin tones in mind, this palette's pigment is unrivaled and works for any skin type or color! It has large pots for the color, which is reflected in the price of $27. It can be found on the Juvia's website or Beauty Bay.
15. e.l.f. Mad for Matte 2
Cheap price, 10 eyeshadows, creamy, and only $10. Warm lovers dream. Worth every penny and can be found at every drugstore where elf is sold and Ulta!
16. Nyx Epic Ink Liner
This eyeliner lasts ALL day, it doesn't smear when the eyes do that teary thing, and its a flat black. It's all that girls ask for in an eyeliner. And, it's only $8 and lasts a long time. One might say it's a tattoo (but that would infringe on KVD so we won't). Can be found on NYX website, Ulta, or Sephora.
17. Milani Make It Last Setting Spray
The Make it last is the mattifying spray, but the formula works on oily or dry skin. Milani also has a make it dewy setting spray. The mattifying does its job and keeps your makeup from moving around throughout the day. At a price of $8, it's a good deal.
I hope you like this drugstore compilation, I hope you found something that you can you use! Maybe swap out a holy grail high end with a cheaper alternative!
