Why I Dropped Out Of college

After a year of college, I decided it wasn't the right time for me to be in school. Too many people my age are shamed for not having a degree at this stage of their life. There are plenty of logical reasons why students decide not to go to school or drop out.

1. I wasn't ready

when I first started my freshman year I thought it would be easy. I just had to go to my classes, pay attention, do my work, and study. Although that all seems simple when it came down to it I couldn't force myself to do go. I wasn't ready to take it on. I was physically and mentally drained.i was suffering from social anxiety that kept me from being able to walk into a full classroom. On the days when I forced myself to sit through a class I didn't want to be there. I couldn't focus and I was uninterested. I didn't study or do my assignments because when I was out of school I was either working or sleeping and I was also facing personal issues that I had to work through. In the end, I excelled in classes I was interested in but failed the other classes I needed to complete my degree.

2. I wanted to enjoy my freedom

Post graduating high school i felt free. I was in charge of my life from that point on and I could do anything I wanted to do. I could be anything I wanted to be. In high school we're all taught the same things and we don't end up applying most of it to our future lives. 3. I didn't know what I wanted to do or who I was

I knew I wanted to do something great with my life. I knew that I wanted to help troubled kids so I majored in social services but soon after I realized that field just wasn't for me. Since I wasn't interested I decided i didn't want to waste my time pursuing a degree I would personally find no use in.

4. It's too expensive

I personally believe that college should be free or less expensive. Books alone cost an arm and a leg and the only way someone my age can afford it is with mommy and daddy's help, student loans, and financial aid. Both of my parents helped me and I financial aid but I felt like i was wasting money if I didn't know what I wanted to do.

Although I'm ready to go back to school college isn't for everyone. In this day and age, it's crucial to have a degree to obtain a career and be successful. It's a shame that there are so many talented people that can't find good jobs because college just wasn't for them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
