Four albums, five mixtapes, seventy-seven singles as an artist and a featured artist, and seven promotional singles. If you can't tell by the title of this article, I'm talking about Drake, one of our favorite Canadian rappers. Starting from the bottom as a little Aubrey Graham.
to the always favorite Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian drama Degrassi: The Next Generation
to the perfect specimen we know today as Drake. I mean do you see this smile:
it's a sign of true happiness and success.
From Canadian television to star rap sensation, he's got a lot to be happy about. With over 200 nominations and over 50 awards to grace his career, Drake has something new up his sleeve for this summer. In exactly one week, he is dropping his new album entitled Views From the 6. If you're anything like me, who probably shouldn't know all of the lyrics to Best I've Ever Had and blasting If You're Reading This It's Too Late outside of your mom's van, you're just hyped that this album should be straight fire.
April 29th will be the drop date through Apple Music. Which sucks if you don't have Apple Music ($9.99 is a lot for someone like me in college who can barely afford printing paper,) you can wait the whole week until the whole world can hear it. The hype for this album is absolutely unreal, and has been since the title release in July 2014.There is an estimated timeline and idea of who and what is on his fourth studio album. Potential idea's of the track list including repeated released singles, to collaborations with Beyonce (ugh the Queen), Yeezy, Jay-Z and the thoughts of Willow Smith (RIP to the whiplash I received trying to Whip My Hair circa freshman year high school) to grace the album. Otherwise, all fans are left somewhat in the dark to what's going on.
Since we are here to celebrate Drizzy and his success in life, we should consider some of his greatest life lessons, his chart-topping songs and let's not forget his dance moves. Drake has given us great things to subtweet at people -- "twitter fingers turn to trigger fingers," a reason to fight for your craft by putting out songs to show off your talent, and to not have a care in the world with wacky dance moves. If anything that Drake has done for anyone in the world, it's that he puts his heart and soul into his work. Varying opinions on Drake have shown that even if production isn't the best or that he lacks emotion in certain songs, he still gives his all. That's what the world needs sometimes, a true human to put out music for what he believes in and for what the people want to hear most of the time. Drake puts his soul into his music; this should just be shown for the two years that he has craft his work and for the selective nit-picking that he has done for the tracks on Views.
You might not agree, but music and the artist that makes it gives meaning to different people, depending on what it is. Drake might not be your favorite artist, heck, you can like anything in this world and have an affinity for it. It doesn't matter who you are or what you listen to, all the matters is that you're happy listening to it and that it gives you meaning.
