7 Things You’ll Understand If Driving Stresses You Out

In This Article:

While driving is certainly a skill that most people should have, not everyone grows to like it. There are a lot of factors about driving that stress people out, and some people are more prone than others. Here are seven things you'll understand if even the idea of driving makes you feel anxious.

1. You hate it when it's your turn to pick your friends up

Yes, it's fair for everyone to take turns driving, but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable when you have to do it.

2. You'll do anything to avoid the freeway

Merging on the freeway is an utterly overwhelming experience. There's so much happening at once, and it's difficult to know where to focus your attention.

3. Google Maps is both your best friend and your worst enemy

It's wonderful when the directions are actually correct, but every time Google Maps glitches or maliciously tells you to turn left when you should have turned right you can feel yourself shutting down.

4. You understand the importance of a good co-pilot

They are quiet when you need to focus, clearly tell you when to turn before the turn has arrived, are not fazed by your road rage, and they pick out the best driving music.

5. Parallel parking is your own personal hell

Or worse, parallel parking while people are watching and judging your poor performance.

6. Road trips are fine until you have to be the driver

You can't even really look at the scenery while you're driving, and you have to be fully paying attention to the road while all of your friends are having a great time.

7. You talk to yourself nonstop when you're alone in the car

Keeping up a conversation with yourself is a great way (probably) of coping with the stress of driving. Sometimes it's easy to resort to this when there are people in the car, too, but you play it off like you were talking to them.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
