I Drink Six Bottles Of Water Per Day And You Should Too

When I say that drinking water has changed my life, it has, hands down, single handedly, changed my entire life.

It began as a challenge for myself. I knew that I had a few personal goals, and after watching various beauty vloggers discuss the amount that water had impacted their life, I knew I wanted to try drinking more water.

In 2014, I solely drank Gatorade for that entire year. Without any exaggeration, I do not think I touched water for that entire year. I was going through about six to eight bottles of Gatorade per day. During this time, I wanted to find a way to stay hydrated and healthy, so with the electrolytes and "good things" I had heard about this drink, I forced myself to drink at least six bottles of it per day. I was not a huge fan of water, and this tasted much better to me at the time, so it became my go-to.

After noticing that this was not helping with breakouts as much as I wanted it to, and learning that this much consumption of sugary Gatorade just made me feel guilty, I knew that I needed to switch up my liquid-intake routine once again.

When I say that I had to force myself to drink water—I literally had to force myself. I would look at my skin in the mirror, and as I was insecure about the acne I had at the time, I would tell myself that drinking more water would help my skin. Switching from solely drinking Gatorade for a year with zero water intake, this was extremely difficult.

One day, I decided on a way to make myself drink more water. I took a water bottle and decided to just chug it. It made my stomach feel awful, and I truly never wanted to drink water again, but this became a routine. After drinking the full water bottle all at once, it somehow leads me to drink even more water, as I found myself thirsty a couple hours later. Every time I would crave water, I would just drink the entire bottle—all 16.9 fl OZ, until I was up to six bottles of water per day.

To this day, I still drink about six bottles of water per day, and I have noticed amazing things from doing so. My energy levels have increased, my acne has nearly completely diminished, and I rarely break out anymore. Whenever I do break out, it is extremely minimal and does not bring up many insecurities whatsoever like my skin used to in 2014.

There's also such an amazing feeling in knowing that what you're doing for your body is healthy and beneficial. I find it extremely important to take care of my skin, as I hope to look as great as possible with age, and water is the absolute best thing to help accomplish this. It helps get rid of toxins in your body and does not add any unhealthy sugars or fats.

Since this challenge of drinking more water that I assigned to myself in 2014, I have truly noticed my life change for the drastic better. Aside from the energy boost and rid of acne, I simply feel like I am doing something amazing for my body on a daily basis—which is truly the best feeling.

If you're looking for a simple way to improve your health, start with water. I never knew water would be the biggest blessing, but oh my—it has been and will continue to be.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
