Drinking lots and lots of natural, plain water (no sugars, additives, or anything) is seriously the best thing you can do for your body.
Really, it's the most effective beauty and wellness tip, ever... Which is why you hear about it so often.
The thing is, there are so many more benefits beyond just survival to drinking enough water every single day. It's practically magical and can improve your body in so many different ways.
Water is nature's own beauty cream.
A huge concern everyone has at least once in their lives is skin-care. No one likes, or wants, dry, flaky, acne-ridden skin. You can try all you want to slather on those lotions and potions and other skin-care products, but it really won't be doing you any favors if you're not staying hydrated.
Chugging down that H2O will really help keep your skin looking amazing all the time.
Water revs up metabolisms and helps you feel full.
H2O is such a miracle worker when it comes to weight-loss, and it doesn't involve sketchy ingredients or sneaky I-want-your-money marketing techniques that run rampant when it comes to pills or diets.
Why? It's simple: sometimes when your body tells you that you're hungry, there's a huge chance you're actually just thirsty. And to top it all off, drinking water right before a meal and during a meal will fill you right up and lower the chance of the bad habit of overeating.
Water is practically an energy drink.
Instead of grabbing a Red Bull or some Starbucks next time, save yourself and your wallet and just grab some water. It's easy, it's cheap and it works.
Dehydration will actually make you feel very, very tired. That's why you should always carry around a water bottle or know that you have a guaranteed access to water - especially if you find yourself beyond exhausted, drifting off to sleep in class or at work. A few sips of water will definitely keep you going and be the perfect little pick-me-up.
Water & fitness go hand-in-hand.
Having no water in your system means that your muscle cells can't maintain the balance of fluid, which leads to much lower muscle performance. Make sure you're hydrating before, during and after any exercise. Muscle fatigue is a real thing and it's definitely not fun.
Water keeps your body clean.
Drinking up on water helps out your kidneys, whose job is to detoxify your body. Not drinking enough water means that there will be too much blood urea nitrogen trapped inside, which means you'll have higher risks of getting kidney stones. Constipation is a possibility as well - none of which are pretty.
With so many benefits to drinking water, it's hard to imagine why anyone would choose not to. However, it's the hustle and bustle of our daily lives that make it such a difficult commitment.
So, the next time someone reminds you to drink more water, take it to heart. They're helping you become the best (and most beautiful) version of yourself, after all!
