I remember the days when I used to order soda. Sure, it tasted amazing, but I knew it was bad for just about every part of my body from my teeth to my liver. It has large amounts of sugar and processed ingredients. I knew a change had to be made. When I first decided to stop drinking soda, I only switched to water and tea. Now, I love my green tea, but there was still something missing.
Luckily, this year I discovered kombucha. I had heard some pretty nasty things about the drink. I mean, it has clumps of living probiotics in it that you can actually see floating around in there. Needless to say, that did not make me feel confident about trying it out, but I am so glad that I did.
Upon first tasting the gingerberry flavor of kombucha (now, my favorite flavor), I liked it, but I had not fallen in love with it. It was more bubbly and sour than the soda I was used to. However, I had read some of the benefits of drinking kombucha, so I wanted to try drinking it a little longer to see how I felt.
For one, all of the probiotics in kombucha aid your body's digestion. They help it absorb healthy nutrients and boost your immune system. They also serve as an antioxidant, reviving your organs. I have been taking antibiotics every day for my acne, which kill good and bad bacteria in your body. In order to replace the good bacteria that I'm missing which keeps me healthy, I drink kombucha to replenish it.
Some other benefits are within kombucha's nutrient facts. The calorie and sugar counts are extremely low in comparison to soda. Drinking a bottle of soda can equate to eating a piece of cake, while a bottle of kombucha rarely holds more than 60 calories and 12 grams of sugar. That's including both servings often found in one bottle. Kombucha has natural ingredients that usually include black tea, green tea, kombucha, the natural flavors that depend on the type of kombucha, and "100% pure love."
Once I drank kombucha every day for a week, I already felt better. And it tasted better too! I now enjoy many different flavors of kombucha, and you're bound to find one that you enjoy. Kombucha is an amazing alternative to soda, and if you haven't tried it, you need to run to the grocery store as soon as possible.
