First 'The Dress,' Now 'The Jacket'

Do you remember “the dress?" You know the one that no one could figure out the true colors of? The one that made you question if you should go to the eye doctor? The one that caused full on debates and probably destroyed a few friendships? So, was the dress white and gold or blue and black? I saw the dress as blue and brown, which apparently wasn’t even an option and made me question if I have been seeing everything in the wrong colors for my entire life.

Well, there is now a jacket that is recreating the dress scenario. It’s an Adidas jacket that some see as blue and white while others see as black and brown and it’s making everyone freak out all over again. The picture was first posted on Tumblr and the caption read "I hate to make a new blue/black white/gold dress meme but my friend has this jacket and she says it's white and blue but I see black and brown pls tell me what you see."

I personally see the jacket as blue and white and I’ve tried looking at it in different lighting, from different angles and on different screens but I always see it the same. There’s a science behind why you see the dress or the jacket as certain colors and no it’s not because you need to get your eyes checked. The reason we each see the jacket or the dress in different colors is because of how the brain perceives colors in daylight.

It has to do with wavelengths and light and a bunch of other brain stuff, but long story short we see colors differently. Usually, it's not noticeable, but in specific circumstances, like the dress and the jacket, we all can see colors differently. So, next time you are trying on clothes that are questionable colors you should probably ask a friend or two how it looks before you step out of the house.

So is it white and blue or black and brown? You decide.

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
