Fashion is everything -- well, almost everything. However, how exactly should Floridian fashionistas conquer dressing hip in a bipolar climate? Most days end up warming up drastically, so how do we handle this?
1. Wear T-shirts under everything.
This is such a simple idea, but most girls wears oversized T-shirts anyways, so throw on an even bigger sweater and your outfit is perfect. This creates a more laid back look while still spicing up the appearance of a simple T-shirt. If you really want to dress out of the box, try sweaters over T-shirt dresses.
2. Nike/ Lulu Lemon leggings are pants too.
Leggings have become way too thin to protect anyone from a cold winter. Now, with exercise leggings, we can all have thicker pants with the appeal and simplicity of regular leggings. The cool designs also add to the spunky wardrobe.
3. Scarfs are a staple.
If your outfit seems too casual, or if you are are trying to just rock an oversized Comfort Colors long sleeve shirt, add a scarf! The scarf will hide any frocket to turn a casual outfit into a hipster trendsetting get up.
4. If you don't own a vest, you are doing it wrong.
Jackets are way too overwhelming to wear all day on a long walk to class in the Florida winter time. Usually, the temperature rises way too much to keep on a jacket all day. However, most girls rely on jacket pockets for phone storage and even hand warmth during the extra breezy mornings. So, the simple solution is a vest. Wear any long sleeve sweater or shirt, and add a vest for pockets and even warmth for your midsection.
5. High tops are the equivalent of boots.
Boots are a tough commitment in the Florida heat. High top Converse allow the freedom for cute winter socks while also allowing your entire foot to breathe. They also cover the bottoms of leggings so there is no awkward ankle skin showing, a perfect win for a winter outfit.
6. Do not be afraid of ripped jeans.
Jeans with holes are the best of both worlds in the winter time. They are cute and slimming, they keep your legs toasty, but the little holes give your legs a chance to air out when the temperature rises. They also add more of an edge to any winter outfit.
