One of the hardest things for me to do is to balance my love of shopping with my meager college student budget. Here are some tips to make the most of your budget while still having a rocking wardrobe!

1. Shop at stores that are known for selling designer items discounted.

Stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Nordstrom Rack are great examples of this.

2. Check out apps like Poshmark.

Apps like Poshmark allow users to sell their pre-owned clothing at a discounted price, which means you can get a great deal on some really nice pieces!

3. Look for dupes.

If you see something you really love, but can't afford, check out other stores for something similar. It shouldn't be too hard to find something you like just as much!

4. Shop at inexpensive stores.

Although this one may seem obvious, stores like Forever 21, H&M or Target are great places to find fashionable, but affordable clothing!

5. Shop off season.

Shop when demand is low! For example, if you're in need of a coat, searching during the warmer months will get you the most discounts!

6. Look through clearance racks.

Although it may take some searching, you can get some great pieces for amazing prices!

7. Try out thrifting.

Old trends are constantly coming back into style. Something that was trendy a decade ago will become popular again given enough time, which means shopping at your local thrift store can be a great place to find some new pieces for your wardrobe!

8. Look for discount boutiques in your area.

Discount boutiques are amazing because they sell designer pieces significantly marked down due to minor flaws. These flaws can be something as insignificant as a missing button or a pulled thread!

9. Take advantage of sales and discounts.

Always visit pricier stores that you love on big discount days, like Black Friday or Super Saturday!

10. Invest in timeless pieces.

Classic pieces like leather jackets will always be in fashion, which means you're guaranteed to get a lot of use out of them!

11. Buy what you love!

Remember that spending a little extra on something you love every once in awhile is OK!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
