Often times, we do not realize how precious our time with our loved ones truly is. We often think that there will be a "next time" or that we can simply take a rain check. Sadly, sometimes this is proven false. In the blink of an eye, plans are reversed, lives are flipped upside down, and our hearts feel heavy with anger and sadness. This poem is dedicated to the ones God took to Heaven too quickly and for their loved ones who live on to share their legacies...
It’s been a year since you’ve passed
yet still, I dreamt of you the other night.
So many questions I never asked
before God took you in broad daylight.
When I saw your face I couldn’t believe
that it was really you standing before me.
I did not feel the need to grieve.
I only hoped you wouldn’t quickly flee.
You looked the same, no aging at all,
still showing your goofy grin you always wore.
You told me not to shed a tear, not to bawl.
“I'm never too far,” to me you swore.
Heaven seems so distant from the Earth
Now I know, I should’ve sooner realized your worth.
In loving memory of Lou Hatter.
We miss you every single day and think of you often.
Thank you for all you did for us during your time here on Earth.
We know you are watching us from above.
Rest in Paradise, Uncle Lou.
