Remember in this article when I stated the association of chocolate with some of my wildest and most imaginative dreams inspired by Mario games?
I mentioned that igloo fort with all the chocolate coins, and possibly - a chocolate star hoarded up in it.
As the season of sweets progresses, I'm going to share with ya'll another concoction I had from the marriage of my sweets addiction to my video game world imaginations: a chocolate mountain.
I mean that in the most literal sense, a mountain made out of chocolate. Sounds very common and cliché don't it? Not when you actually visualize it in detail.
Of course, my inspiration for this? Another Mario game for the Nintendo 64, Mario Kart 64. That track is literally called "Choco Mountain".
Now don't that look like one delicious mountain to drive through?
As y'all can see, much of my gaming history is with Nintendo. I do have experience with the PS3s and Xbox 360s of the last generation as I used to own both of those systems.
But in the history of my life, it's been all Nintendo, heck my most recent gaming console was a Wii U (until I was forced to sell it sadly).
Although not the source of my inspiration, but on a related note, Mario Kart 8, the Mario-based racing game for that console, also featured a sweet mountain level literally called "Sweet Sweet Canyon".
I kid you not, in the same way I dreamt about an igloo fort with chocolate coins in it, I did the same with walking on a mountain, made entirely out of chocolate.
Let's be realistic for one moment, the dirt from our feet and bottoms of our shoes kind of force us back into reality.
I mean, who wants to be walking on a chocolate mountain with regular shoes that has stepped on mud, grass, rubble, pavement, rock - all types of material that we obviously don't want to be ingesting?
But hey, since we're talking about a world completely devoid of any limitations, why not go at it?
Let's pretend that harmful germs didn't exist, and that anything harmful on the bottoms of our shoes, boots, socks, bare feet etc., suddenly disappeared the minute we stepped foot on the mountain? Okay, good.
Also, let's make all the cabins, hotels and buildings out of gingerbread and crackers, just to throw it out there to coincide with the holidays. The streams, rivers, lakes and all the bodies of water will all be filled with chocolate, be it regular chocolate, or white or dark chocolate.
However...for the frozen lakes or frozen bodies of water, it'll be filled with ice cream. As for the flavor, that is up to you, the reader!
So where would I put this mountain? Dear god, there's so many places. Indonesia, Thailand Texas, Indiana, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Canada, Egypt, the Middle East, Mongolia, Mexico and the Philippines.
A giant tub of ice cream being unveiled in Iran, now just imagine an ENTIRE lake or river filled with this!
As to why I'm so specific and shortened on the list, most of these countries interest me, one of them is my home country.
But if I were forced to choose ONE, ONE place, it'd be Israel. I'd be damned if I got stand on a mountain made entirely of chocolate, while looking down at the Holiest City in the world, with Temple Mount, Dome of the Rock and the Church of the Holy Supulchre all in one view.
Now just imagine, this view of Jerusalem from a mountain made ENTIRELY out of chocolate!
I mentioned the Philippines on this list....only for one reason....
There's actually a "Chocolate Mountains" in the Philippines....
You read that right, there's is actually a mountain range in the Philippines called "Chocolate Mountains", sometimes called "Chocolate Hills". When I was told this as a young kid, I honestly, literally pictured a huge mountain range, made entirely of chocolate.
The beautiful Chocolate Mountains of Bohol, Philippines
Now, the the truth is, these mountains, which are located in the central part of the Philippines, received their name because of the brown hue they give off during the dry months, as shown by the stunning photo above.
They're actually like any tropical mountain range, they're green during the non-dry seasons, and the grass turns brown during the dry season.
That's not the only reason that the Chocolate Mountains receives so much tourist attraction, there is also an amazing ecosystem and vegetation. There are also many hotels and resorts at the site.

So if any of ya'll are planning a vacation somewhere, definitely consider visiting Chocolate Mountains in the Philippines.
I'm not just saying that out of home country bias, I'm saying that because it really looks like a legit natural attraction to visit.
There's actually a peanut butter cookies brand in the Philippines named after and based off of the mountain. Its called Peanut Kisses, they shape the cookies into little hills resembling the Chocolate Mountains.
Let's make this even more interesting: let's turn it into a chocolate volcano!
Now that I mentioned the Philippines, which like its neighboring country Indonesia, is a volcanic and tropical nation (due to their location in the Pacific Ring of Fire), let's turns this mountain into a chocolate volcano.
Let's turn the entire region into the Pacific Ring of Chocolate.
Imagine this, instead of scary, hot, dangerous lava erupting from the top, just imagine seeing a bunch of liquid chocolate erupting, and then flowing to solidify and turn into chocolate shells!
These chocolate shells can be used to coat ice cream, or perhaps even other sweets like peanut butter (Butterfinger or Reese's anyone)?
Hey, the possibilities are endless.
Well folks, there have it, another episode of my addiction to sweet foods and its history. So y'all in my next sweet piece!
