I have just started my junior year in high school. So far, schoolwork has gone pretty smoothly. Normally I wake up around 5:30, to be able to get to band practice by 7. Although waking up is hard, this isn't hardest thing that has been going on this year. Normally, I come into school at 7 am, to the smell of tar. And I'm not talking just a little in certain spots. I mean an overwhelming smell throughout the entire school. And get this, this is still isn't the worst part. There are two things that have happened to my school, and they all come from one source: the roof people.
First came the flood. So yesterday, we had this REALLY BIG storm. Like, I thought Jesus was coming for us. But, it wasn't as if I was just sitting by the window watching it come on by. I was in it. Carrying metal poles. Needless to say, it was scary. However, this isn't the end of it. Our school decided it just wanted to fill up with water. Stairways were completely under water.
Then came the fire. Today, I walked into my 5th-period class, and we couldn't see anything because it was filled with smoke. Immediately, everyone started to panic. But it's fine because we didn't COMPLETELY evacuate. I mean, while the entire fire department was at my school, we were still inside, getting our math on. But it's fine because I'm not bitter about it at all.
Like I said, the school year has had a few drawbacks. But, it isn't the end of the world. I am determined to laugh at this in a few years. In fact, I'm already laughing at it now. Thanks CHS for making junior year TAR-iffic.
