Dr. Seuss has always been one of my favorite authors. Most of his works are meant as children's literature, but his messages can appeal to all. I have three different Dr. Seuss quotes hanging up in my bedroom because they just make me happy. It's always nice to start off the day with a positive quote. I've compiled some of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes for anyone who needs a little motivation for their days.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

You are fully capable of taking yourself wherever you want to go in your life. You are smart and can do anything that you put your mind to.

“Today is gone. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”

Enjoy today and live in the moment. If you didn't have such a great day, then tomorrow promises a new day. Look forward to the future and embrace it.

“Kid, you’ll move mountains!”

There's no need to be afraid of the tasks in front of you, you are capable of much more than you think.

“And will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed).”

There are no 100%'s in life and that's sometimes scary. But with hard work, it's more than likely that things will go in a positive direction.

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

We are all unique. It's easy to fit in and conform to societal norms, but it is totally worth it to be yourself and be true to your ideals and beliefs.

“Think and wonder, wonder and think.”

Never lose your childlike wonder. Never stop growing, learning, and challenging yourself.

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”

You have one life to live so make it spectacular. Participate in the world and be involved. Make connections and make your life one worth living.

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.”

You have to enjoy every moment of your life. These could be "the glory days" that you tell your grandkids about, make all of your moments memorable ones.

“So, open your mouth, lad! For every voice counts!”

Never let anyone tell you that your opinion doesn't matter. What you have to say is just as valid as what the next person says.

“You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.”

You may not be happy about what "shape" you are in right now: physical, emotional, financial, etc. But remember that you are exactly where you are supposed to be and this doesn't have to be permanent.

“Today I shall behave, as if this is the day I will be remembered.”

Go into each day with positivity and the desire to make a change in the world, no matter how small of a change it is.

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Everyone deserves the same amount of respect regardless of title, status, age, gender, or whatever, so don't treat them poorly because of who they are.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Things in the world get done by people who put in the work, by people who care, and by people who want to see a change. So if you want to see a change in the world, help be that change.

“Everything stinks till it’s finished.”

Right now may be a little rough, but once you get past it, you'll realize how much stronger you have become since you overcame that hardship.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
