We all need a reminder to trust in God. I could give you a "sermon" on trusting God and encouraging you to place your faith in God through the struggles and the storms...but instead I think I'll just let the God speak for Himself. Here are a "dozen verses for trusting God" written by....God...
1. For when you feel like everyone is against you:
Psalm 56:4 "In God, whose word I praise - in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"(NIV)
2. For when you wonder whether it's worth it to keep trusting God:
Psalm 9:10 - "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."(NIV)
3. For when your world falling into chaos and stress:
John 14:27 - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." (ESV)
4. For when its no longer socially acceptable to trust in God:
2 Timothy 1:12 - "Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day." (NIV)
5. For when stress and anxiety come knocking:
Matthew 6:25 - "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" (ESV)
6. For when you doubt God's consistent faithfulness:
Hebrews 13:8 - "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (ESV)
7. For when you slowly stray from God:
Proverbs 3:1-35 - "My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding..." (ESV)
8. For when life is just too much:
Isaiah 43:2-3 - "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you." (ESV)
9. For when you want to hold onto every single anxiety in your life:
1 Peter 5:7 - "Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (ESV)
10. For when the world starts getting in your head:
Psalm 56:4 - "In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?" (ESV)
11. For when you doubt that God can hear you:
1 John 5:14 - "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us." (ESV)
