The weather outside is frightful, but you need to put on some appropriate winter gear and come downtown. The traffic is horrendous, but there is so much worth seeing this week in Detroit!
The Auto Show
The North American International Auto Show is in town until January 22nd. I haven't been yet, but I plan to. According to my Snapchat, Ford has put up an incredible 360 exhibit and scooters are the future. If that doesn't entice, I'm sure the fifty billion other fancy cars will. Tickets to the show are only $13 for adults and $7 for children and seniors. Check out the floor plan below!
The Meridian Winter Blast
This year they scheduled the Winter Blast during the Auto Show so people could enjoy two events at once. There are a variety of events centered around Campus Martius Park, aimed to entertain the whole family. The event runs Friday-Sunday and will feature live bands and my favorite, FOOD TRUCKS. New to the festival this year, Bedrock is sponsoring an ice maze and an ice bar.
Luminocity
I have not misspelled it. Luminocity is a light sculpture project that will be spread around Detroit until mid-February. So once you're done at the Auto Show and you've enjoyed the Winter Blast, you can take a tour of the city and truly appreciate these massive light sculptures when the sun has set. I've been walking by a few of them on my way to work and they're just not as cool during the day. Stereobot, the designers behind this project have created similar sculptures for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
With this in mind, this is definitely an event you're not going to want to miss!
