bringing better friendships

Down sizing life
Rachel Witt

Why do people feel the need to have so many things along with items they don't use all the time? As I was growing up, I have seen a growth in the idea of buy more and having the biggest and best things in life. Why do we need so much stuff? Minimalism has sparked the eyes of many people recently, me being one of them. Less is more or quality over quantity is a nice motto to embrace.

But what should downsizing bring to a person's life? The idea of Minimalism is to cut out the excess of life opening the door for positivity to grow. The less you are focused on having the best things in life the better you are to think about others. We still need to consider the fact that we need things as humans to survive and thrive. We can't look at minimalism having a set of restrictions. It will look different for different types of people and families.

If we stick to the idea of keeping less in our life to cultivate new friendships we change the way many people view the world. We can began to use what we don't need to others. The seven extra coats you have could help seven homeless men and women during the winter. The extra time we have can be spent serving time serving our communities.

Downsizing doesn't mean getting rid of all your things. It simple just means getting rid of the extra things in life are unnecessary for everyday life. If we are sharing love, joy and our gratefulness for the life we have been given then we can better cultivate new friendships.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
