We all come from different places, have different views, and are raised to believe different things but we are all thrown together through the common bond of going to college and more specifically being a part of the Greek community. We all meet different people, make and break relationships and mature while making plans for the future and preparing ourselves for the real world. It's amazing that what seems like a huge deal at the time turns into water under the bridge over time.
Living in the bubble of the community we share has its pros and cons, as there are people I've been blessed to meet and people that I will never have the chance to meet, which if I took another path could have been large parts of my life. Down the road, I know that I'll look back at these times with a positive view of how it's shaped me and be thankful for the people that have entered my life. It's amazing how fast times go by as I still remember walking up on stage my senior year of high school and accepting my diploma. With the class above me graduating from college and moving on to the real world, it really got me thinking about life in general and how in a year from now I'll be doing the same.
You go through this period of your life struggling through exams or just trying to make it to Friday night so you can enjoy the weekend festivities despite how slowly time seems to creep by. Next thing you know, it's Christmas break, then Spring Break, and then another year is in the books. Funny the way it is, when you can barely see beyond Friday night and the next think you know you've got one less year of college left. The unknown that the future holds is both frightening and exciting. As everyone is excited to embark on the next chapter there is still the fear of entering a world where having a degree is more of a baseline to build off of then something that sets you apart. Yet we find strength and confidence from how far we've already come and support from the people that started as friends and have now become family. Where we will end up? Only time will tell, but all I do know is that I will take these experiences that have shaped me with me for the rest of my journey.
