Maybe you got a notification on your phone, maybe you watched it on TV, maybe you have no idea what i’m talking about...well I'm about to tell you.

On Tuesday, December 12th, 2017, Doug Jones defeated Roy Moore in the Alabama senate race.

You may be wondering...why is this significant? Well, for starters Doug Jones is a democrat who won against a republican in a mostly republican state. This is huge for the Democratic Party because it means they are only two seats away from being the majority in congress.

According to CNN, “A Democrat hadn't won a Senate race in the state since 1992.”

Polls had shown Jones and Moore practically tied for the senate seat, but due to Moore accusations on sexual assaulting 9 woman when they were teenagers, might have costed him the seat in senate.

Although Moore denied the allegations, this may be a huge reason why he lost the race...after all it's highly unlikely all the women are lying.

Moore claims, “These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democratic Party and the Washington Post on this campaign”(Washington Post).

On the bright side, although Moore cannot go to court, because the assaults happened years ago, at least he did not win. Not just the senate race, but the battle. Woman will not sit back and bite their lips, we will stick up for ourselves and fight until we get the justice we deserve.

Congratulations Doug Jones, and as for Roy Moore… I hope you get what you deserve.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
