Many new customers are unaware of any type of etiquette in a club. The main idea for any club is that you enjoy the experience as best as possible. Here’s a few words of advice to those who are ready for a special celebration or just want to experience the vibe of a strip club!
1. Do tip your bartenders, waiters, and dancers.
They are there to make sure your experience is enjoyable and luxurious. Everyone working at a club (or any other workplace) is there to make money as well as enjoy a means of doing it. They all live off a base wage of $2.13 per hour since their main form of income is through tips. This broadens to all waiters and workers living off that base wage, so even if your waiter is rude, at least tip them a little bit. Maybe they had a rough day and didn’t have the energy to be as nice as usual.
2. Don't try to get the dancers real names or numbers.
They are regular workers who more than likely are married or have significant others. The dancers also have a ‘dancer name’ for the sake of their own safety and anonymity.
3. Do get to know your dancer or bartender.
Many of them have regulars who they occasionally might hang out with outside the club. Nothing hurts from gaining a new friend. Now I'm not saying to be a regular, but you’ll get to know a new person who you can be comfortable with when asking for anything, and you will help the workers keep a positive sense after they’ve been yelled at for something out of their hands. You can both vent about your exhausting days and bond over your favorite team winning in the basketball game.
4. Don’t try to get a sexual experience from the dancers.
Many of the girls (or guys) are asked for sexual favors while they are on the clock or after their shift is over. Most of them will not accept your offer nor will they ruin the name of their workplace or role of other dancers. Strip clubs are also strictly for selling the idea or fantasy, and not turning it into a reality (which can also be illegal). On another note, asking for sex with large amounts of money is also a big no-no for the same reasons.
5. Do try to enjoy the ambience.
You came here to unwind after a long, hard day of work. Though the club will have a party type ambience, many customers like to hang around near the restaurant or any other quiet areas in the club where they can grab a drink, some food, and watch their favorite sports game along with the girls on stages. You can also flash a smile at the dancers or other workers; many times they feel uncomfortable when everyone solely gives them a dead look rather than a positive signal. It can be a confusing atmosphere at first, so you can ask any of the workers how something works.
6. Don’t assume anything of the dancers.
The main stereotype given to these dancers are that they are after work prostitutes and school dropouts who need money to assist their various addictions as well as have a broken family, hence ‘daddy issues.’ Now some girls may fit this stereotype to just gain some extra money for cocaine and other drugs, but more often than not, the dancers are using their money for college tuition, personal goals and living expenses.
So for all the club newbies out there, enjoy your night as best as you can! Enthusiasm about being in the club will bring you more comfort in the environment; so unwind and enjoy the experience.
