As the semester winds down and winter break approaches, many of you will be headed to the bars to either celebrate being done with classes, or to reunite with your friends from home. As you go out, it is important to remember these few rules so you don't make a complete ass out of yourself!

DO: Ask her if she would like a refill.

If you notice that her cup is getting a little empty, ask her if she would like a refill, but also encourage her to accept a drink from you by letting her come with you when you go up to the bar to order one and to watch where her cup is at all times! This makes her know that you have ZERO plans of slipping anything in her drink

DON'T: Think that because you bought her a drink that she owes you anything.

Yes, it was super nice of you to offer a girl of drink, but just because she accepts your offer, doesn't mean that she owes you anything else. That's like saying to someone, "hey, you talked to me without insulting me for about 25 minutes, you now have to come home with me." Don't be a dick. If the girl's not interested, she's not interested and it's a waste of both of your times to continue the conversation any further.

DO: Come up with creative/witty things to say to her.

The same old pick up lines get extremely old after awhile and approaching a girl with something creative YET NOT DOUCHEY is a good way to catch her interest and seem like you're making an effort, rather just spewing you words you've heard, or even used 1,000 times prior.

DON'T: Be a dick.

If you approach a girl at a bar, here are some things NOT to say and probable answers for your douchey comments:

Q: "what that mouth do?"

A: Insult a person until they cry

Q: "what's your sign?"

A: STOP.

Q: "well, you look beautiful tonight"

A: "I look beautiful every night, the answer is still 'no'"

Basically, all you have to do is be respectful and know your audience. If you go over to a girl and what you're doing clearly isn't working, self reflect and think, "am I being a dick?" or even "am I being boring?" OR MAYBE THIS GIRL IS AT THE BAR WITH HER FRIENDS AND JUST WANTS TO BE LEFT ALONE!!! I have these tips are helpful, and LADIES, if you weren't so quick to judge, the average looking guy at the bar who seemed a little too shy for you, might have actually been a good guy.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
