Taking that leap into adult otherwise known as college is so exciting, but when you don't take the right precautions things can get messy and very much out of hand. Here is a step by step guide of of the Do's and Don't of college.

Do choose a major that you'll love.

When deciding a major, all we ever think about is the financial impact it'll make on our future, never if we'll actually love it. Choose something that speaks to you on a personal level and defines who you are, because at the end of the day this decision leads to your awaiting future.

Don't let time get past you.

As a college student I can speak first hand about letting time slip through my fingers. Taking observations from my surrounding peers, I've noticed that one of the best thing to do when it comes time to turning assignments in on time, is to do them days prior to the actual due date. This allows you enough time to get the work done and ask your instructor for any extra guidance. Aside from doing the work early, plan out your work early. Most instructors have their assignments planned for the semester and give them out in their syllabus. By taking this information you can build a schedule to follow by to help you keep track and get those grades you so deserve

Do be on time for class.

This is so simple, but very hard for individuals to follow by. Some teachers not all are very strict about attendance and if you're no there on time 9/10 your teacher won't allow you in class. Being on time has great benefits, such as not missing important information, of course getting the seat you truly desire and when your on time instructors will noticed and might even let you slide once. So why not be to time?

Don't be afraid to be yourself

Starting college most of us are to ourselves and very shy, but it's now time to step out and flourish like a butterfly. Venture out and find out who you truly are. Surround yourself with individuals that love the same things you like and don't be afraid to be yourself and express you interests. Find your people and find yourself.

Do enjoy your college experience.

Yes, college is about getting an education and better your future, but it's okay to have fun. Join a club and make those friends you've been looking for. Go out and experience those long nights of parting and those early mornings of class, but do be responsible. Discover a new hobby that you might've never thought about. Overall have fun and stay focus.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
