That time of year is quickly approaching; the day that thousands of smiling and extremely nervous new faces step foot on campus for the first time. As if moving away from home isn’t stressful enough, trying to make sure you pack everything you might need without forgetting anything makes it all a million times harder. From my personal experience, here are some dorm essentials that can help make the move-in process a little less stressful.

Bedroom:

-Bins for under your bed (go to the Container Store)

-Mattress pad

-Bedding/throw blanket

-Reading pillow

-Area rug

-Blackout curtain

-Lamp with shelves

-Shoe organizer

-Power strips

-Bed caddy

-Jewelry organizer

-Fan

-Full-length mirror

-Trashcan

-Wall decor (go to At Home or Hobby Lobby)

-Command strips (safe and dorm-approved way to hang things

Bathroom:

-Bath towels/hand towels/wash clothes

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time.
