It happens once every four years: the Olympics. Our country’s hardest-working athletes deserve to be where they are today. Michael Phelps has had an outstanding journey. Simone Biles is changing the sport of gymnastics. 2016 can’t get any better. As much fun as you may have watching them execute outstanding performances, you can’t help but wonder: What if I were an Olympian?
"I need to get to the gym."
Working out is basically their job, but I can still find time right?
"I would never watch half of these sports."
For the last 3 years and 11 months, I wouldn’t have given another thought t a rugby match. Fencing? What?
"We have a really attractive team."
To be quite honest, our athletes are blessed genetically.
"HOW?!"
Aly Raisman just made that roundoff, a one-and-a-half stepout, roundoff back handspring arabian double front look like cake. I can do that right? LOL
"I’ve done nothing in my 18 years."
Sydney McLaughlin is 16 and in Rio, I’m 18 and sitting on my couch. You go girl.
"Michael Phelps."
Michael Phelps. That is all.
"I’m naming my daughter Simone."
It’s a good year to be a Simone. I’ll be naming my daughter Simone. Watch out for her in the next 28 years.
"Where are my tissues?"
It’s okay to shed a few tears while watching the Games; you’re not alone.
"Thank God for the Olympics."
In the midst of the tragedies that we’re all so familiar with today, it’s amazing to have an event that can bring our country together like the Olympics.
