Every season of "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" has a designated villain. On Ben's season it was Olivia and on Kaitlyn's it was Nick Viall. While this current season of "The Bachelorette" is only on its second episode, it is clear that Chad has taken on the role of most hated contestant, but I don't totally hate him. While I'm not arguing that he is obviously very conceited, and the last person I would ever want to date, he is actually pretty rational. Sure, his weird obsession with meat and working out with his luggage makes him look like a total tool, but there is a certain realness that I can respect. Chad has been very vocal on his opinions about other contestants, and a lot of times they have been nasty and completely unnecessary, but a few things he has said, have made a lot of sense.
When he told the men to stop complaining about not getting a date.
On the Bachelorette, it is imperative to get time with the leading lady, in order to make it to the next round. While many of the guys just want to stay on the show with the hopes of getting on "Bachelor in Paradise," I hope at least half of them have a genuine interest in Jojo. When the date card arrived, the men who weren't invited on the date started complaining. Chad on the other hand, had a pretty valid point. He honestly didn't know why these guys were so heartbroken, all they knew about this girl was what they saw from TV. He told them that they went their entire lives without being on a date with her, so they could wait one week.
When he told Jojo he didn't love her.
For those who aren't part of "Bachelor" Nation, this may seem like the most normal statement. On "The Bachelorette," contestants are not only encouraged to confess love as soon as possible, but it's also expected. The men were shown writing songs about how much they love Jojo and how awesome she is, but Chad wasn't having it. The guys had only known Jojo for maybe 48 hours, and they were already saying how wonderful she is While I like Jojo as much as the next person, I get what Chad is saying. The fake proposal date was weird, and while all in good fun, he felt uncomfortable saying meaningless compliments.
When Chad was suprisingly honest.
One of my favorite moments of this episode, was when Chad explained himself to Jojo after the awkward group date. He told her that he was ready for love, but he just didn't know her well enough to say that he was. Another thing that he said that I 100 percent agree with, is that he doesn't trust the guys who already claim to love Jojo. This should be a warning sign because maybe those guys are just saying that to make it a bit longer in the competition. Chad's honesty greatly increased his chances of going home, so maybe this shows Chad is really there for love.
Chad is indeed a polarizing character, and I can't wait to see what is to come of him and Jojo's relationship (Even though I am totally rooting for James Taylor).
