Life. Quite literally the longest thing we, as humans, do. Yet, people are always so quick to tell us how short life is. Why is that, you may ask? Well, personally I believe most people take large portions of their lives for granted, which makes the time pass faster. Whether it be the family they were born into, the friends they chose, the career path they're following, or love, the one unconditional act that truly cannot be explained with words. Whatever it may be, taking these things for granted causes one to lose sight of what's truly important. Words can't express how crucial it is to be passionate about life and fulfilling it the most that you can. It's about holding on to the people who make your soul happy, the people who light you up and change you into this wonderful human being that you may not have been before you met them, and it's about finding a person who loves you unconditionally more than you can even imagine.

Family:

It's important to hold your family close. While I know everyone's situations are different and it's nice to be close to your "blood" related family, that isn't what it's all about. Family can technically consist of whoever you want. Whether it's the family you were born into or a group of close friends who are by your side night and day, the purpose of them enriching your life is all the same. They're there for you when no one else is, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Friends:

It's important to have friends that benefit you help you grow, both emotionally and physically. Since you choose your friends, be sure to find good ones. While this task may seem easy, I can assure you, it may be one of the hardest things you'll ever do. However, once you find out who your true friends are, I can promise you they're no better people on Earth. They'll build you up on your worst of days, help you tackle the challenges that life throws at you, make you laugh uncontrollably, and drag you on countless unforgettable adventures.

Career:

It's important that you find a job that you love. You're not going to want to wake up each and every day and head to a job that you aren't passionate about. If you find a career path that truly fulfills your desires, it won't even feel like work. At that point, you're waking up every day to do something you love. To know that not only did you choose a career that you love, but it's not a career you'll always feel the need to take a vacation from. You're happy to be doing exactly what you're doing, which in turn makes all of the other aspects of your life more positive as well.

Love:

It's incredibly important to find someone in your life to share each and every experience with. Someone who looks at you like you're the only person on this Earth, someone who loves you unconditionally without question, and someone who will be by your side through thick and thin every step of the way. Essentially, someone who brings out the best possible version of yourself. Being in love is one of a kind and all forms are different. No two loves are ever the same. But it's the great loves that you have to hold onto. How will you know? You just will, I promise you. One day you're gonna find somebody who makes you see the sun when all you want to see are clouds, someone who makes you feel like you're on top of the world, and someone who would do absolutely anything to get you where you want to be. That's a love worth having. Once you find it, don't give up and don't let go.

All four of these aspects of life are things that are often taken for granted, but shouldn't be. Take a good look at your life and the person you are versus the person you want to be, then take the time to appreciate each and every one of these aspects and I promise it'll change your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
