Don't Sweat The Election Stuff

When you vote, don't worry about the outcome. We're fine.

On November 8th, 2016, either Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump (or one of the dark horse third party candidates) will become the next president of the United States of America. Most people don't seem to, shall we say, take kindly to the Republican or Democratic nominees. I can't count the number of people that I've met who have threatened to move to Canada because of this year's election. Almost as many people have told me that we're going to soon be plunged into chaos and disarray the SECOND one of them enters the oval office and sits down in that rather fancy chair.

Very few people have a positive view of the outcome of November 8th and admittedly, I used to be one of them. I'm frankly nervous about what either of them is going to do in office but that doesn't mean that I'm going to start building bomb shelters or flee to another country. As nervous as I am, I am 110% confident that our country will come out relatively unscathed at the time of the next election in four years.

You know why? Because neither is going to do anything that would threaten their own livelihoods and both can be easily replaced.

Trump has made his lifestyle based on his name and self-image. Yes, he's said some horrifying things and made a mockery of the Presidential Race but I highly doubt he'd do something as dumb as cause a nuclear holocaust just because he hates Mexicans. He's simply doing what he does best: putting on a show. He's saying things just because he knows saying them will get him attention. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaked the recent Inside Edition video himself just to gain more publicity. He's a showman through and through and as long as he can talk, I'm confident that's all he'll end up doing. Once he has power, he has no idea what to do with it so he just sits back and relaxes, saying offensive things and watching from afar.

In other words, Trump is harmless.

Clinton, on the other hand, is a scary woman who will say or do anything to get what she wants. She is tough, no nonsense, pandering, and manipulative. If she lets more top secret emails leak out when she's actually President, who knows what will happen in other countries? Regardless, she is a very, VERY smart woman who was already our Secretary of State, meaning she has experience with foreign policy, and who has possibly already run the country for eight years if rumors are to be believed. Yes, people change as time goes on but I doubt that just because she hasn't held office in three years, she'd do anything that would ruin her own life or get her impeached. No, I think she's self-serving but I don't think she's stupid while doing so. She'd keep the country safe because it would keep her safe and she has the brains to back it up.

In other words, Clinton is also harmless.

Regardless, if either do anything that would ruin the country or was otherwise illegal, they can always be kicked out of office by an impeachment trial. If what people are saying is true, invading other countries without cause or ordering all of the money to be shredded so they can be replaced by bills bearing your face both sound very blatantly illegal to me. Neither of them is going to risk their own skins because of personal vendettas, arrogance or vanity. They are both people who will want to keep office once they have office, meaning that whatever they do, it will be well within the law and will ultimately not screw over the country. We will not have a dictatorship, we will not blow ourselves up and we will not end up in the next Mad Max movie. For those of you who are worrying about Trump's wall, the next president can tear it down or, more realistically, stop construction of it if it proves to be detrimental to the USA.

Our country is safe, you guys. Don't worry. Just make sure you get out and vote. Every last vote is going to matter in this election because as of right now, it's going to be a close one.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

1987
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
