Don't Stress For You Are Blessed

Too blessed to be stressed? Life is stressful, but through it we are blessed.

Let’s be honest, life can be hard. It is full of twists and turns, but then again who doesn’t enjoy a few adventures. I know there are definitely some things in life that happen, and they are so difficult to overcome, but there are also some really awesome things.

Life is full of bad moments, like the passing of a close family member, or a parental separation. Maybe abuse, or bullying in school hits a little closer to some. For others it could be mental, or physical health they struggle with. At any age any one of the number of awful things could happen. Events like these aren’t planned, and we aren’t always able to control them.

We try of course to cover them up, and pretend they aren’t happening, but we all know that doesn’t work. I personally am not someone who enjoys change, so when my parents got a divorce I would constantly think what it would be like if they got back together. I think we all do that at some point or another, we wonder what it would be like if we didn’t go through our troubled times.

Whenever troubled times happen, because we know they will, we often hear the simple little phrase, “life happens”. While this is very true, life does happen, why do we associate life with being bad? Truly life is happening in beautiful ways all around us, but we see life as this thing that we are stuck with, and we just have to deal with it. Life happens in light just as it happens in the dark.

Life can be hard, but don’t forget it can also be amazing. If my parents hadn’t gotten divorced I would not be sitting here writing this right now. My entire life would be different.

I wouldn’t be getting my education on the friendliest campus in the south, and I wouldn’t be dancing next to some of the most amazing women I know. I wouldn’t be a candidate for a sorority filled with God loving, incredible women, and I wouldn’t have any of my incredible friends. Not to mention I also love my step families who I know my life would not be the same without.

Life happens in good ways, and when life gets hard one of those good moments in life is on its way. Just wait and trust that life isn’t all bad. You may be stressed with all that is happening right now, I know I am, but you are still blessed.

Look at your little blessing. Maybe you haven’t lost anyone close to you, or maybe you are on a team with some amazing people. It could be that you get to work on your education. Whatever it is don’t let the bad parts of life get you down when there are plenty of good things. You are too blessed to be stressed. Breathe. You will get through it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
