Being a teenager can be one of the most stressful times in someone’s life. This is the time where you might leave home, find new friends, lose old friends, etc. Although it may seem like the end of the world, there are ways to deal with all of this stress.
There are a million reasons to be stressed as a teenager. Dealing with stress can even become stressful, follow these simple tips and you just might be able to survive it.
Step one: Find your getaway. Whether it’s the gym, a good book, or a hot bath, find the place where you feel most relaxed. If you’re fighting with your friends or you just bombed your Math 101 test, go hit the gym, sweat it out and get over it. I can almost guarantee that these problems won’t matter in a week. Times may seem tough but once you relax you’ll realize you have options and can solve almost anything.
Step two: Talk to someone. Go to your best friend or your cousin you can tell anything to. Talking helps a lot more than you think. When you tell someone your problems they get a different view on it and can help you resolve your problems. You and your boyfriend/girlfriend breaking up for the fourth time might not be such a shame, maybe it’s not meant to be and the only person who can get that through your head is your best friend.
Step three: Don’t overwhelm yourself. If you know you have an essay, two tests and a lab report due next week, don’t binge on Netflix and procrastinate. Start studying and do a portion of your homework, you don’t need to waste your weekend but it helps you in the long run to get started on your work earlier rather than last minute. It’s so much better knowing you have your work done and now you have time to go home and relax after class instead of cramming everything into one night.
Step four: Confront your issues. If you got into a fight with your friend talk it out before things get worse. Put everything out on the table and figure out what you need to do to resolve things. If you fail a test, ask your professor if you can retake it or ask about any extra credit you can do. Majority of the time people want to avoid conflict so your friends will resolve your issues and your teacher will want to help you. Don’t stress about stress.
