The holiday's are most people's favorite time of year. The Christmas lights, baking the goodies, and putting up the Christmas trees. We love the holiday cheer and the good times that seem to be floating in the air. It's a twinkling winter wonderland makes everything merry. The one problem we seem to make now a days is the fact that we skip a very important holiday, Thanksgiving.
It seems like the day after Halloween it goes from orange and black straight to Christmas trees and lights. Unfortunately, people are so excited for the Christmas cheer they forget to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Not only is Thanksgiving about food (who doesn't love food?) but it is also about family. Yes I understand that Christmas is about family too but Thanksgiving is different. There is no worry about making sure you have the right gift or making sure the house is fully decorated. There is no added pressure to make sure everyone gets as many gifts as everyone else. Thanksgiving is simply about family and friends coming to together. Whether it's sharing a meal or playing a game, everyone can just let loose and have a good time.
Thanksgiving is also about making sure you remember what you are thankful for. Some days when everything is falling apart and you aren't sure where to turn, it becomes hard to remember all the good things in your life, this holiday is a time just for that. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and love one another.
We must not forget about Thanksgiving in our mad holiday rush. There are not many times when a whole extended family gets to just be together and share in their joy.So go help your family make the turkey, pumpkin pie, and mashed potatoes and share in the love and laughter. Plus, let's not forget about the food.
