Finding trust in God to lead you to love.

Over the last year, I have begun to explore the love that God has for us. Even in times of turmoil, I have learned that these are lessons, and sometimes, tests of our faith to make us stronger. Though things doget better, one thing most women, including myself, have struggled with is finding a future husband. Being recently single, this is something I have been trying to find the right answer to; because I can attest that for all ladies, we are sick of kissing frogs! As a child of our Heavenly Father, I have begun to take on the task of adding a future husband to my daily prayers and spiritual journaling. Ladies, I must tell you now, it takes a lot more than this! Okay, you may think I’m crazy, but I can prove to you that you no longer need to search. As his children, God wants nothing but the best of the best for us women, a few verses that prove this come from 1 John 4: 16-19, which says:

16 “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.”

As one who has loved us first, Heavenly Father wishes to lead us ladies to the perfect, Christ-like man who will meet our eternal needs, as we will meet his. In order to obtain this level of love, not only does it take faith, but this takes time and also patience. Wait, then how does this work then, you may ask. Well, here are a few pointers I’ve currently been using that may help to guide you along on your relationship-seeking journey.

1. Stay humble and grateful in prayer.

During these times, it may seem difficult, but this is a must! When praying for that special someone to come into your life, it can be easy to become completely engulfed into the thought of finally finding him. One thing to remember though, is that Rome wasn’t built in a day, ladies, and just because you pray about it once doesn’t mean it will happen tomorrow! Still serve your Heavenly Father with the same grace and charity you currently have. He will find you!

14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

2. It should be a man’s job to pursue... so be patient!

I know this seems extremely biased and old school, but this actually is true, so give it a chance! God will give him the message and confirmation to begin pursuing you! Yes, you will receive that answer as well, but we all know as females, sometimes we can be a bit overwhelmed when it comes to receiving an important message, especially when it comes to our love lives. If you want an established and true love, once you receive the message, do not pursue him! This can make him nervous, or give off the idea of a relationship that would rely heavily on the physical/intimate aspects of dating... yikes!

22“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22

3. If you’re unsure, ask for a confirmation

As I mentioned before, things do not happen in a day! Stay calm...even though this may be difficult because of all the excitement. These answers can come in a variety of ways also! Whether it be in a dream, prayer, or even something right in your face, be mindful, sometimes these messages require a watchful eye and can be easily missed. Though in the end, the greatest one of all will be when it actually happens!

11“Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” Isaiah 7:11

4. There’s no need to worry, I promise!

Don’t become consumed by this, as said previously! Just because this has made you anxious, excited or any other emotion in the book, this should not be the main focus of your prayers. If this does occur, it will not make it move any faster than it is meant to. Plus, with all this mindful clutter, this will cause you to become distracted from God. This can be dangerous! For one, you can lose your way, causing you to not hear his messages clearly. It can also steer you to false confirmations. As one who 90% of the time has her head in the clouds, this one is the most difficult for me on this journey! Just remember this, if you truly have faith, this will conquer any fear, worry, anxiety and etc you may face, and if meant to be, will come to pass.

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
